Bagged salad. Is it lettuce or bagged salad? When I was in Idaho I was reminded of the strange way my mom buys lettuce. She buys it in the bag. Well really she doesn't. She buys bagged salad and uses it as lettuce. Mind you, there is bagged lettuce, already cut. She doesn't buy that. She buys bagged salad. A head of lettuce. No. Bagged salad.
We went to Jackson Hole for a few days and while I would have loved eating out every meal (remember I'm on vacation) the parents insisted on packing sandwiches. I think it's okay for one meal but we did it every day for lunch. We get out the bread, the cheese, the mayo, and then the bagged salad. WHY? I don't know! My brother says he remembers his sandwiches always having carrot slices in them.
At Christmas we had taco salad on christmas eve. Where is the lettuce? It's in the fridge? Where? In the fridge? Where? Right here. Oh, you mean the bagged salad. Yes, the bagged salad. It was wilty. And it was gross. But it was Christmas Eve and all the stores were closed so we had lovely taco salad with wilted lettuce. I mean wilted bagged salad.
There are some quirks I'm sure I will have when I get older and my kids will laugh at me and call me old fashioned and out of touch. BUT, I can guarantee I will never serve my kids bagged salad on their sandwiches.
Love you mom!

How funny! I find that odd little quirks that remind me of my mom are surfacing even now. I am just sooo excited to see how sane I'll be when I'm eighty...groan. ;)
Yes, we love the bagged salad on our sandwiches and hamburgers. The concept makes no sense, but it's tradition and traditions are hard to break. Ha, ha.
This is too funny! I must admit, that I have done this to my family for the fact that that stuff goes bad WAY to QUICK and if I don't use it at any possible opportunity I end up throwing the stuff out. BUT I do pick out the carrots and the other "salad" items. LOL. I really am weird!
You must check out this blog: seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com. Mormon sattire. Hilarious-- especially the playlist.
That was from Christina, not Julie.
How funny! I have a couple of family quirks that I refuse to give into. A girl's gotta have standards, right?
everytime i read this i just bust up laughing...what's crazy is i'm afraid there is probably something "horribly tramatizing" that i do to my family that i don't even realize. so now all i have to do is wait 30 years for my kids to be brave enough to mention it...
Haahaa! Seriously, I know we all have them and you made me laugh thinking of my mom's and soon to be mine...
Brooke feeds her family Country Crock spread. At least bagged salad is real food
