My Asian Children

I am the proud parent of five boys, four white, one Asian (Laotian to be exact) and a sometimes Laotian daughter. My children, Abe and Angela seem to be everywhere I am. Abe and Zack are the same age and we happen to live in the same neighborhood. Abe is at our house ALL the time. It doesn't bother me yet, but it may get to that point. Anyway, every time Nick has a game Abe is there and his mom (Sue) asks me to drive him home. At least that's what I think she is asking me. See, I have a really, really hard time understanding her so I just say yes to everything she asks. So the other night at Nick's game Abe and Angela were both there and she said something and pointed to Angela and I guess I agreed to take Angela home as well. Yesterday at around 10, Abe showed up at our house dressed in church clothes and told me his mom told him to go to church with us. Well me, not being one to deny anyone a chance to go to our missionary based church, told him that was fine. I called Sue and I guess she told me it was okay. I had them both at the pool today and I am hoping Sue will take them to night swim. At least I think that's what she said!

Too funny Brooke. I have been in that situation (not inheriting other peoples children) but not being able to understand people who don't speak English well. I too smile and say yes. Just be careful one day you might be saying yes to something you wish you had not. LOL.

You are so right Shanon. Both you and I have a big problem with that. You crack me up. Can't wait to make you work tomorrow!

Now I have a visual of the famous Abe. That mom is going to be sorry she told you to take her kid to church. The missionaries will be showing up at her door soon.

What's funny is I know Sue too and she doesn't have an accent at all when she talks to me. Isn't that weird? I wonder if it's because I told her no this one time. Hmmmm...maybe I should start talking to you in an accent too so that I can receive the free babysitting services of Ormsby Clan Daycare, LLC.
